The General Data Protection Regulation or the General Data Protection Regulation is a set of comprehensive rules for data protection within the EU. In Slovakia, the GDPR is transposed into Act No. 18/2018 Coll., the Personal Data Protection Act, which entered into force on 25.5. 2018. From this date, the GDPR increases the protection of the personal data of EU citizens and at the same time imposes new obligations on the administrators and processors of this data.
This law is equivalent throughout the EU and failure to comply with it risks a penalty of up to 20 million euros or 4% of the company's annual turnover.
The law must be complied with by all institutions that systematically process personal data
